It is important to know what one is doing while worshipping. God wants us to worship him, not ourselves. One way to not worship ourselves is to be humble, if we aren't humble we can insult God. It is also good to know what a song is about, in order to know its meaning while playing it. Worship is a beautiful thing, that should be done with the right intentions.
I feel that this speaks to me on a new level. I don't always fully understand the songs I play. It is important that I understand what I am playing in order to feel a full connection with God. I need to become more humble, I am not very prideful, but humility is something I need to improve at. God is the purpose of life, and I should think about this while worshipping.
Edward, I loved that you made the lessons from the article very applicable to yourself. I totally agree that we should really look into the message of each song so that we can worship and lead others in worship more effectively. I know its hard sometimes to be humble, but I think that remembering that God is the reason we have the opportunity to worship helps me to not be prideful about leading worship.
